The Director General of the Swedish Security Service makes the decision on the terrorist threat level for Sweden. This decision is based on an overall assessment of available information, in which the National Centre for Terrorist Threat Assessment’s (NCT) evaluation constitutes one of the supporting inputs.

NCT was established in 2005, initially as a working group under the Cooperation Council Against Terrorism. Since 2009, NCT has been a permanent group staffed by personnel from FRA, MUST, and the Swedish Security Service on fixed-term assignments at NCT.

The terrorist threat level remains elevated, at level three on a five-level scale.
