One person has been arrested on suspicion of preparation or conspiracy to commit a terrorist offence, among other things. Several other persons have been taken in for questioning.
In the morning of Thursday 13 December, the Swedish Security Service carried out a number of interventions in several places in Western Sweden. The interventions were carried out in collaboration with the Swedish Police Authority, with the National Operations Department heading their work.
One person has been arrested following a decision by a prosecutor at the National Security Unit of the Swedish Prosecution Authority. This person is suspected of preparation or conspiracy to commit a terrorist offence and of gross weapons offence.
The preparations for the suspected terrorist offence have been going on for quite some time, and international links are involved.
The intervention carried out by the Swedish Security Service was made possible by intensive and comprehensive intelligence work within the framework of the Security Service’s counter-terrorism efforts.
The criminal investigation, which is subject to secrecy, is being headed by a prosecutor and carried out by the Swedish Security Service.
The terrorist threat level remains unchanged and elevated; level three on a five-level scale, which means that a terrorist attack is possible.
