Protective measures

Decisions concerning dignitary protection, and which protective measures to be used, are based on detailed threat assessments.

The first, and most basic, level of protective measure is the provision of information to the relevant police authority about a certain activity, or event, about to take place within their geographical area of responsibility. More stringent protective measures include the use of close protection officers combined with fixed site security. Protective measures may also involve providing information and advice, various technical solutions such as the installation of locks and alarms, and conducting bomb searches.
