Monitoring certain groups and individuals

Our focus in this area is both on politically motivated groups and
individuals, such as political extremists, and those driven primarily by
financial interests, such as groups and individuals engaged in serious
organised crime. In addition to these categories, there are also people
who act on their own.

Based on what is often very personal motives, these individuals may also pose a threat to representatives of society. It is evident that the democratic system may be seriously compromised when such activities lead to elected representatives abstaining from taking on certain issues, to public officials changing their decisions, or to journalists hesitating to investigate certain matters.

We are not tasked with investigating every crime these individuals commit, nor do we investigate all forms of threats and harassment directed towards various representatives of society. Instead, our remit concerns the more serious and systematic crimes targeting elected representatives, public officials and journalists as they perform their duties.
